Muhyiddin Better Not Appoint the Following Ten UMNO Politicians in His New Cabinet

The newly appointed 8th Prime Minister of Malaysia had assured Malaysians that his new Cabinet will consist of politicians with credibility and a clean record. I hope when he said clean record means that they don't have any bribery charge hanging over them and they're not in court on trial. Clean record means no criminal record at all whether they're found guilty or not guilty.

These politicians may say that they're being persecuted for political reasons but the evidence is abundant that the following ten politicians are corrupt. Here are the names that I hope will not appear in Muhyiddin's new Cabinet.

1. Zahid Hamidi

Zahid Hamidi is currently the President of UMNO and is facing 87 charges in two separate trials. If it's in another country, a man of this stature would have resigned from office after being caught for bribery. But in Malaysia, politicians are extremely thick skinned and have no shame. Even after being charged with such a shameless crime, they can still show their faces in public and remain in office. Shameless.

He's charged with

  1. 12 charges for criminal breach of trust (CBT)
  2. 27 charges for money laundering
  3. 8 charges for bribery
  4. 40 charges for another bribery case
These cases involve not just hundreds of dollars but millions of dollars - an amount that a Malaysian would never see in his lifetime.

2. Bung Moktar Radin

Bung Moktar and his wife
Bung Moktar Radin is also another shameless politician who is the Sabah UMNO chairman. He's charged with accepting RM2.8 million in June 2015 in exchange for approval for an investment worth RM150 million in unit trust products. He used his wife's name to deposit the money. As such, his wife is also being charged for aiding and abetting his bribery.

3. Tengku Adnan

Tengku Adnan is a former UMNO secretary-general. In June 2016, he allegedly took a bribe of RM2 million from businessman Tan Sri Chai Kin Kong. The money was deposited in an account of a company belonging to his family. He claimed that it was donation for UMNO but who would believe him. If it was a donation, why did it end up in his family's company account? Shouldn't UMNO have their own account for donations?

4. Musa Aman

Musa Aman is a former Sabah Chief Minister who is facing 46 charges of corruption and money laundering relating to logging permits in Sabah.

5. Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim

Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim is an UMNO MP who is being charged with accepting bribes and money laundering.

6. Ahmad Maslan

Ahmad Maslan is an UMNO Supreme Council member. He's being charged with one count of accepting RM2 million from Najib Razak and a second count of forging a document submitted to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officer stating that he did not receive RM2 million from Najib Razak.

7. Mohd Isa Abdul Samad

Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad has 10 charges against him which are 9 charges for bribery and 1 charge of criminal breach of trust. The alleged crimes were committed when he was serving at FELDA.

8. Shahrir Abdul Samad

Shahrir Abdul Samad is the former chairperson of FELDA who is charged with money laundering after receiving RM1 million from Najib Razak in November 2013. He is also being charged for not declaring the receipt of this money to the Inland Revenue Board.

9. Najib Razak

The former Prime Minister of Malaysia is being charged of 42 counts of corruption, criminal breach of trust (CBT), abuse of power and money laundering involving 1MDB and SRC International.

He seemed so confident that he will be exonerated of all the charges that even after UMNO is now in the ruling coalition, he wanted his trial to continue so he can clear his name. Everybody knows who's guilty here.

10. Rosmah Mansor

Even though Rosmah Mansor has no political position but by virtue of being the wife to the Prime Minister, she was able to extract money from businesses who were desperate to win a government project. She's now facing three corruption charges involving the supply of solar energy at Sarawak rural schools.
